چکیده
Abstract An extension is proposed to the internal symmetry transformations associated with mass, entropy and other Clebsch-related conservation in geophysical fluid dynamics. Those were previously parameterized an arbitrary function of materially conserved Clebsch potentials. The consists adding potential vorticity q list fields on which a new G mathvariant="italic"> depends. If }=q{ A }(s)$?> = q mathvariant="italic"> ( s stretchy="false">) , where specific s then trivial gives rise law. Otherwise, non-trivial law exists. Moreover, notions Casimir invariants are defined. All symmetries that become hidden following reduction phase space non-canonical Hamiltonian formulation for fluids, while all laws invariants.

Symmetries of Conservation Laws
We apply techniques of symmetry group analysis in solving two systems of conservation laws: a model of two strictly hyperbolic conservation laws and a zero pressure gas dynamics model, which both have no global solution, but whose solution consists of singular shock waves. We show that these shock waves are solutions in the sense of 1-strong association. Also, we compute all projectable symmetr...

I discuss recent progress in low-energy tests of symmetries and conservation laws, including parity nonconservation in atoms and nuclei, electric dipole moment tests of time-reversal invariance, β-decay correlation studies, and decays violating separate (family) and total lepton number.

A notion of geometric symmetry is introduced that generalizes the classical concepts of Killing fields and other affine collineations. There is a sense in which flows under these new vector fields minimize deformations of the connection near a specified observer. Any exact affine collineations that may exist are special cases. The remaining vector fields can all be interpreted as analogs of Poi...
متن کاملConnections Between Symmetries and Conservation Laws
This paper presents recent work on connections between symmetries and conservation laws. After reviewing Noether’s theorem and its limitations, we present the Direct Construction Method to show how to find directly the conservation laws for any given system of differential equations. This method yields the multipliers for conservation laws as well as an integral formula for corresponding conser...
متن کاملII.21 Invariants and Conservation Laws
The inclusion principle (2) enables us to capture continuous properties of a function, using only a finite number of operations. Its most important use is to explicitly bound discretization errors that naturally arise in numerical algorithms. As an example, consider the function f(x) = cos3 x+ sinx on the domain x = [−5,5]. For any decomposition of the domain x into a finite set of subintervals...
